Face-to-face interactions like meetings and workshops can be really valuable. In this post, we’ll walk you through a real-life case, where Innoduel was used to speed up ideation and discussion during a live workshop, saving up to 10 hours of the participants’ time.
Setting the scene
Let’s imagine that you’re in the process of redefining your business strategy with a group of 8 people plus a really expensive consultant.
You want to kick the workshop off with an exercise focusing on the future challenges in your industry.
Step 1: start a new arena
First, start a new arena and type in the question.
Next, you can add some preliminary answers.
These answers will compete with the others later on.
Step 2: change the arena mode to “collecting”
Next, change the arena mode to “collecting”.
This means that for now, no one can see the answers – they can only add new ones.
Step 3: ask the participants to give at least two answers
At the beginning of the workshop, you can share a link to the arena through the communication channel of your choice: email, Slack, WhatsApp… Your choice!
Once the workshop participants have opened the link, ask each of them to add at least two answers.
You can encourage the participants to discuss in pairs or as a group, but make sure that they also have some quiet time to think about their answers.
Usually this phase takes about 5 minutes to complete.
Step 4: change the arena mode to “voting”
When the time is up and the participants have added at least two answers each, navigate back to arena settings to change the mode to “voting”.
By clicking on the original link again, the participants can start voting between the given answers, two at a time.
Step 5: discuss the results
After the participants are done with voting, you’ll see a prioritized list of the answers.
Naturally the results don’t necessarily reflect the absolute truth when it comes to the biggest challenges in the industry, but they will help you understand the points of view of the participants and allow you to have an interesting discussion with the group.
Want to know what the best part is? You just saved dozens of sticky notes, a lot of valuable minutes, and a ton of manual work, since the answers are already in a shareable digital format!
